In case you couldn't quite understand the little girl giving the joke on the air today, here's the joke:

Hillary Clinton died and went to heaven ...

As she stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, she saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. She asked, "What are all those clocks?"

St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks.

Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock. Every time you lie, the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said Hillary, "who's clock is that?"

"That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Who's clock is that?"

"That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have only moved twice telling us that Abe only told 2 lies in his entire life."

"Where's Bill's clock?" Hillary asked.

"Bill's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

Spanking children in schools

Posted by Data Babble | 11:55 AM | , , | 0 comments »

I came across this article today on newsweek discussing how a principle in South Carolina has reinstated the spanking policy in his elementary school:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/195119?Gt1=43002

This is obviously a touchy subject and typically leads to a hot debate. What strikes me about this article and regardless of where you stand on this subject, this guy actually turned the school around for the better. What are your thoughts?

So the judges think Adam Lambert's performance on Idol tonight was brilliant. Paula is balling! What do you think of his performance - If I can't have you?

Great performance by Kris Allen tonight - video. This guy is kind of flying under the radar, but he's solid every week. Unfortunately this guy won't win, but he'll have a record after this and it'll be great. Great performance!

Transumer - The next big thing?

Posted by Data Babble | 6:52 AM | | 0 comments »

Have you heard of the term transumer? Think of it as a consumer who rents versus buys - everything from DVD's, video games, books, cars and even handbags. If you have a Netflix membership, then you are apparently a transumer. I suppose this makes sense in many ways. How often do we buy things, use once, then never again as they end up on the floor in our closet? Being a transumer also helps people stick to a budget and still give into that impulse to buy. For instance, you pay a monthly subscription fee to rent unlimited books online. You can get the book you want (instant gratification), but you won't be down at the local bookstore buying books you'll only read once. Not a bad idea really.

Kris Allen's version of Falling Slowly was pretty good. I wonder why he didn't play an instrument like Quentin Tarantino told him to? Anybody have a video link?

Matt Giraud at the piano again. Not a bad version of "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman," but his nerves seemed to get the best of him.

Adam Lambert rocks born to be wild on American Idol tonight! Were you blown away by this performance? Wow! Check out the original video:

Is Quentin Tarantino Gay?

Posted by Data Babble | 8:20 PM | , | 5 comments »

Is Quentin Tarantino Gay? Seeing him on American Idol is making me wonder. So what do you think, is Quentin Tarantino gay?

Here's a list of things which may keep people from achieving their financial goals

1. Lack of planning
2. Not setting financial goals
3. Lack of education and commitment
4. Not knowing how to set goals and put a plan into place
5. Risk aversion
6. Set backs that discourage future success
7. Lack of patience

What are your thoughts on this list?

So what's the difference between peanut butter and jam? What's so dirty about this joke?

Do you think the Drake Equation referenced in the Big Bang Theory could be modified with the Wolowitz coefficient to better their chances with women? I guess anything is possible.

Weber Spirit E-310 Review

Posted by Data Babble | 2:01 PM | , , , | 0 comments »

I purchased a Weber Spirit E-310 on sale at Home Depot about a month ago and I'm very impressed with the gas grill thus far. It seems to be a much cheaper version than other Weber's, but apparently the heating elements are the same great quality. The porcelain grates are cheap and probably won't hold up, but I plan on purchasing cast iron grates to add in the future. This grill heats up fast and keeps an evenly distributed heat. Very happy with my purchase thus far.

This is last year's model:

I would definitely go for this year's model considering the nominal price increase (it seems to be better quality):

Simon Cowell has commented that it's difficult to keep up with the American Idol schedule and may quit the show. It has been quite some time now. I can't say that I blame him. What are your thoughts?

Ped Egg - Pedegg Review

Posted by Data Babble | 1:26 PM | , , | 0 comments »

The Ped Egg works great and relieves the dry calluses and dead skin on my feet. The commercial is a little gross seeing that person "empty" their pedegg, but it does work quite well. As with any "as seen on TV" product, it's best to order online so you don't get scammed for something else over the phone. I have best luck ordering through Amazon. The Amazon Reviews are quite good as well. See Below:

LeAnn Rimes - What I Cannot Change Lyrics:

I know what makes me comfortable
And I know what makes me tick
And I when I need to get my way
I know how to pour it on thick
Cream and sugar in my coffee
Right away when I awake
I face the day, and pray to God
I won’t make the same mistakes

All the rest is out of my hands
I will learn to let go what I cannot change
I will learn to forgive what I cannot change
I will learn to love what I cannot change
But I will change, yeah I will change
Whatever I, whenever I can

Yeah I don’t know my father
Or my mother well enough
It seems like every time we talk
We can’t get past the little stuff
The pain is self-inflicted
I know it’s not good for my health
But it’s easier to please the world
Then it is to please myself

All the rest is out of my hands
I will learn to let go what I cannot change
I will learn to forgive what I cannot change
I will learn to love what I cannot change
But I will change, yeah I will change
Whatever I, whenever I can

Well I know I can’t care about how everyone else really feels
I have enough hurt of my own to heal

I will learn to let go what I cannot change
I will learn to forgive what I cannot change
I will learn to let go what I cannot change
I will learn to forgive what I cannot change
I will learn to love what I cannot change
But I will change, yeah I will change
Whatever I, whenever I can

President Obama mentioned in a speech that he'd like to see "a world without nuclear weapons." This would be ideal, but I think it would be dangerous for the U.S. to destroy our nuclear weapons while other countries continue to keep theirs in secrecy. How do we avoid this?

What is perchlorate?

Posted by Data Babble | 9:09 AM | , , | 0 comments »

Perchlorate is a chemical found in Rocket Fuel. It may also be found in your drinking water or your child's baby formula.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency - EPA said it was toying with the idea of setting new limits on acceptable amounts of perchlorate in drinking water.

Upon checking nearly 4,000 public water supplies serving 10,000 people or more, the EPA found that about 160 of the water systems had small levels of perchlorate, while 31 had levels high enough to surpass a possible new safety level.

Rocket fuel in baby formula

Very small amounts of a chemical used in rocket fuel have been found in powdered baby formula mostly derived from cow's milk. Researchers at the CDC won't release which brands of baby formula they tested. Wonder why that is? Did all of them contain that chemical? Is it something the cows are exposed to and therefore reaches their milk? Just can't trust anything these days.

I think this bill is a good thing and I think it will sway many women to keep their babies and give them up for adoption. I really feel for the women faced with such tough decisions.

Guacamole Recipe

Posted by Data Babble | 8:22 AM | , | 0 comments »

The key to good guacamole is keeping it fresh. Use a little bit of acid like lemon juice to keep the vibrant green color. I've never had much luck with the season packets - always tend to give the dip a bitter flavor. Keep it simple, eat it soon after making. Here's a recipe. Add a bit of sour cream to really make it creamy.

Japan is preparing to shoot down a missile that North Korea has said it will launch between April 4-8.  N Korea claims the missile only contains a communications satellite, but many countries (including the US and Japan) fear they may be testing long range missile technology to possibly send a nuclear weapon out one day.  Japanese military authorities have already given the go ahead to shoot down any missiles that come near them.  The scary thing is "North Korea has warned that it will retaliate against any country attempting to intercept the satellite by restarting its nuclear development program."
